Identify what your door is doing before you call. If it is one of these, do not keep operating it.
Your torsion spring has snapped under intense torsional load. Forcing the opener to lift the door without spring assistance will burn out the motor or snap the drive belt.
A lift cable has slipped off the drum or a roller bearing has seized and popped out. Operating the door in this state can completely drop the heavy panels.
A stripped internal nylon drive gear or a blown starting capacitor. We carry complete carriage gear rebuild kits in our trucks to repair your system immediately.
Don't let a snapped spring, snapped cable, ripped weather seal, or a defective remote keep you locked inside. Our expert teams carry fully stocked dispatch trucks. We regularly perform comprehensive garage door maintenance (inspection, lubrication, adjustment, and component testing) to keep your system safe. We serve Vallejo and the cities around it.
A part fitted for the wrong reason still leaves the door running, which is the trouble with it.
A garage door does not object to being repaired for the wrong reason. Fit a new roller because the door is grinding, when what grinds it is a length of track pulled off line where it meets the jamb, and the noise drops away for a while — a new wheel has clearance the old one had lost. Nothing has been put right. The track is where it always was, the new roller is being worked the way the old one was, and the part just fitted is now the last thing in that garage anybody will think to suspect.
The cost of a wrong answer is seldom paid by the part it was spent on. Everything up there is fitted to something else — a hinge across two sections, a bracket into a jamb, a cable onto its drum — so where the fault sits in what a part bears on, a new part does not end it, it joins in. Set a hinge square across a joint that is no longer square and the pin takes the difference. Put a bracket back a fraction off where it came from and the door runs perfectly well, while the track above it and the section either side take up what has moved. None of that announces itself on the day. It arrives later as a separate complaint about a different end of the door, and by then more of the door is in it than was in the original fault.
Nothing printed about Vallejo settles any of that, and a first look at the door does not settle much of it either. Evidence in a garage arrives unranked. What a door shows somebody standing in the doorway is whatever happens to be visible from there — the bracket at eye level, the cable you can stand under, the section with the dent in it — and being the most obvious thing in the garage is no qualification for being the thing at fault. What would actually settle it tends to be bolted tight against something else, with nothing to see until it comes apart: the pin inside a hinge knuckle, a bearing turning in its plate, a fastener that is only doing its work while it is held hard against the jamb. So the confident answer and the right one get found by different means in the same garage, and the confident one is always available first.
Which sets the end of a visit as much as the start of it. A door that has just been worked on gets run and watched at the places nobody called about — the joints along the sections, the track above the repair, the brackets that were never loosened — because that is where a wrong answer would be sitting, and the time to find it is before the van leaves. The part that was fitted is the least informative thing in the garage. Everything around it is where the door tells you whether the right question got answered.
The door makes that same run every time it goes up for you, working the same joints, the same track and the same brackets. It does it when you leave for Vallejo High School on Nebraska Street, and when you head for the big picnic areas at Blue Rock Springs Park on Columbus Parkway in northeast Vallejo.

Permits for work inside the Vallejo city limits come from the city itself — City of Vallejo — and not from Solano County. Replacing a door is a different job from swapping an opener, and whether either one needs a permit is theirs to say, so start with the City of Vallejo's Building and Zoning page: that is where the current requirements and fees live.
